Welcome to the new website of Shosholoza Shanghai - a home away from home for South Africans in China’s most dynamic city.
The overriding aim of Shosholoza Shanghai is to establish a strong sense of community in the city and in this light the events that we organise are aimed at both families and individuals.
While Shosholoza Shanghai is largely a South African-based network, we also extend an invitation for all our events to fellow Southern Africans living in the city.

Shanghai Shosholoza Mission:
- To maintain a Southern African expatriate community watering hole in Shanghai!
- To bring Southern Africans and their families living in Shanghai together for social events and business networking.
- To assist new Southern Africans visiting/working in Shanghai with networking and meeting of friends and colleagues.
- To operate as a non-profit organization, with all profits from social events being donated to worthy, registered charities.
- To promote Southern Africa in China

Hi. I am a South African from good old Jozi. I have been living with my chinese husband and our 6 year old son in Shanghai for almost a year now. I never knew that this group existed, but I was searching the net today and found it. I am currently on maternity leave expecting our second son on 02/02. I would love to become a part of this social network, but I don’t know how. Is there somewhere on the site where I can go to register on the website or to register to receive newsletters via e-mail? I am struggling to find this on the website.
I look forward to getting a response.
I am from johannesburg and have been in Shanghai for teh past 3 years and never knew that there was a South African community network, until today. I would like to get in touch with S.A. activities here in Shanghai. Please include me in your next events.
