This might be an unusual request as I am living in SA. My son is working in Pingyang and I have recently been unable to contact him by phone, which I was able to do. Does anyone know if there has been a change in mobile numbers or area codes. When I phone I get a chinese lady saying something? The operator here cannot help. Any suggestions? Its very frustrating. I was told to contact consulate in Shanghai...the consulate here were not very helpful.

Is this forum still active? The last post I can see is from 2009.

I may be re-loacting to Shanghai in a few months and would like to ensure that I would like to meet fellow South Africans living in Shanghai.

HOWZIT!!!

I'm a radio and club dj from Cape Town and have been living in Bangkok for almost 2 years now.

The winds of change has now caught my sail and is taking my lovely wife and i to shanghai in April 2010. (kannie waggie!)

I have dj-ed with various South African organisations overseas (S.A. Embassy in association with 'Thumbsup entertainment' LONDON, UK, S.A embassy in association with 'Jabulani group' Bangkok, Thailand) doing things from hosting gala events, to mc-ing and dj-ing at South African parties. Besides being a club dj all over the world for more than 11 years.

To make a Long story short, i am looking to get involved in some sort of hosting or musical (DJ-ing)capacity and would love for someone to pass on any information regarding that to me PLEASE.
Also, if someone knows anything or has any contact with anyone regarding the 'WORLD EXPO' in Shanghai later on this year, i would love to get involved there too... Just not sure how to go about it.

Any help or contact details will be much appreciated.

Contact me on:
dj-versatile@live.com

Check out my Temp website:

Have a LEKKER day

Hi
My family and I are moving to Shanghai in May 2010. Please can you give me an indication as to where most SA expats live? We are looking to move to the Pudong area but there are so many compounds that it's quite a daunting task looking. I have a 2 year old that I would like to involve with other children in his age group. Please can you help me, or put me in contact with some other South Africans who have made the move from SA to Shanghai?
Many thanks

Hi

As you can see my name is Uwe, not a very South African name, but I am South African born and bred. Friends in RSA found this site for me. I have been in Shanghai for 3 weeks and am looking to meet new people and would really like to join the mixer at The Spot, but your website has not been updated in a while, so Im not sure if this event is still ongoing.

Kind regards

Hallo there,
I am not living in Shanghai, but close, Nanjing. We are having a international day in March at the Nanjing International School. Does any one have any tips or ideas where I can find material eg. on tourism or even the World cup as well as south African products to display in a Expo style. The day is like a big show for the different countries here.
Appreciate any info from anyone.
Thank you

I'm a South African living in Puxi, Shanghai.

I like the Shanghai Living section of this website. It's very useful. Thanks. It's good to be able to find wine from home. And now I always use CTRIP to book flights and hotels in China. I haven't been to any of the recommended churches, but I should.

I am quite conscious about the food I eat, so I have recently been using a delivery service called Mealbay (http://www.mealbay.com.cn) that delivers food from Godly (a vegetarian restaurant) and Organic Kitchen Shanghai (a restaurant that uses organic ingredients to prepare food - http://www.organickitchenshanghai.com). I order online from Mealbay's website, and they deliver to my home or office in about 30 minutes. It's really good. So I would like to recommend that site to other South African's living in Shanghai. It's really useful.
